moreThe young prodigy Justin Kauflin was only 29 years of age when he graced the stage at Q's Bar and Lounge and blew away guests with his musical talents, which took them on a journey of jazz through the years.
Justin Kauflin started his musical career when he was just four years playing the violin. A few years later he discovered the piano and by age 6 he was performing professionally. Tragically the musical genius completely lost his sight by age 11, however this didn’t stop him from pursuing his passion for music. Justin adjusted his learning techniques and by age 15 he was performing jazz professionally, most notably with the Jae Sinnett Trio. Due to his incredible talents, Justin received a Presidential scholarship to attend William Paterson University in New Jersey in 2004. It was here that he was taken under the wings of the legendary trumpeter, Clark Terry. A unique relationship formed that helped mould Justin’s incredible career and subsequently, Justin was signed by the music icon that is Quincy Jones and in 2013 and 2014 he was part of Quincy Jones' World Tours.
“I was Clark Terry’s first student, Miles Davis was Clark’s second, and Justin Kauflin was one of his last. If you watch the film Keep On Keepin’ On, I promise you’ll get a sense of just how special this cat is, and if you see him live, I promise you’ll understand it. I’ve yet to meet another talent like him and I know I never will...He is simply that unique and I’m absolutely honored to have him at Q’s Bar & Lounge!" - Quincy Jones
